Hi
I have just had my 2nd cambelt service done on my 2004 Getz (180 000Km) and the workshop informed me that the glow plugs are on their way out as the vehicle has a "hard start" Well, the glow plugs have been replaced (2 weeks ago) but today, my Getz really battled to start, even with a hot engine. ![]() Any idea what else to check? |

I'm having similar problems but mine won't start at all:
I have a 2004 Getz 1.5 CRDi (3 Cylinder engine) with about 115000km on the clock. About a two weeks ago it wouldn't start, so we towed it in to the dealers. After running the diagnostic check they announced the rail pressure sensor needed replacing. They quoted me R9000 for a new one - nearly 13% of the price I'd paid for the car!!! I sourced a Bosch replacement at about R1700 and they have now fitted it to the car. It still won't start. I am now waiting for the latest feedback from the dealer but I've lost confidence in the reliability of their diagnostic process - what if their diagnostic machine says I need a different part at a similar price again? I can't just keep on paying -imagine I'd taken their R9000 part?? Do you have any experience like this? |

Yesterday (April 1st) mine refused to start at all.
Contacted my closest Bosch agents and thay came and collected my Getz.According to their diagnostic equipment, there was no problem to be found. Yet the car would still not start. The common rail sensors were also suspected to be faulty, they cleaned them with some ultra sound equipment, but still no luck. Vic (Bosch Agent) told me that they will be testing the injectors next. This morning Vic phoned me and said that two of the injectors backflow was to high and something about the 3rd one not working correctly. They are going to repair them and then my car would be back to normal @ R1300 excl VAT per injector. He also said that it was due to the sulphur in our diesel that causes premature wear and tear and carbon buildup. Well, now I'm just waiting for my invoice and Getz

Hi Dee Zil
I'm from the West Rand and the agent I use is West Rand Diesel. They can be contacted on 011-762-4251 and you can speak to Vic (Victor). The problem you have could also be the high preassure pump, situated to the right of the engine, battery side. I had mine repaired by the same agent ±1 year ago (100 000Km), for R2800.00 after Hyundai quoted me ±R8000.00 Yes, I'm lost without my wheels and cannot wait to get her back...
