Default two problems; rear knocking and gear box grind

G'day forum

I have two problems on our 1.1 2006 Getz
Rear Suspension knock
Since purchasing this car we have had a horrible thunderous knock from the rear suspension of the car. The noise is dependant on the road condition and is on EACH wheel. We took the car back to the garage and he suggested the shockers, so he changed them. This didn't solve it. Then he changed the top mounts, this didn't solve it. THEN he suggested it was the dust sleeves over the shockers and there was nothing he could do about it.
So naturally I removed the sleeves and guess what, it still is making a thunderous sound!

I'm running out of ideas, it seems to be getting worse and now when the car pulls away from standing still for a while, a strange creek is heard from the sound area on the car and then the knocking begins...

has anyone experienced this? looking under the vehicle all I can see is the sub frame bushes on either side, but really I have no idea.

Second problem

Gearbox Grind
This is another problem we have had since purchase. When starting the engine and pulling away, a strange grinding sound happens for about 2 seconds and then dissapears and doesn't happen again until the engine is turned off.

This sound can happen when changing from first to second, when pulling away in first, when pulling away in second, or when freewheeling in neutral down the road....BUT it is defo a grind.

The seller suggested the synchromesh, and will replace when it blows up further down the road, but is he right?

Anyway, thank you for your time and help

What i would be checking first would be the simpler things mate like the spare tyre in the boot making sure it fastened down tight and nothing is loose in the accessories kit. If not and you have changed your rear coils and rear struts it is very likely to be your rear bushes nothing much more it can be.

As for gearbox i am having same problem when i first start it sounds like you have changed gear without putting your clutch in fully even know im still in first gear i have been told off a mate of mine to first check the gearbox oil for level of oil and if there is any small pieces of metal in the oil that would indicate some wear on the gears. Best thing to do is buy the best recommended gearbox oil for your car and drain the old and put the superior quality oil in
