Default Getz Central Locking

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2006 Getz GSI 1.1 (Petrol) and my central locking is playing up. Having had similar issues with cars in the past, I know that this is due to the relays, specifically the unlock relay. My problem is that I can't locate it. I looked both in the driver's door and under the dash (drivers side - where the fuse box is) because that's where it's usually located on most cars but no luck.

Can anyone please tell me where the unlock relay is located on a 2006 Getz GSI 1.1. Thanks for any replies.

How do you know for sure its the relays?

I am thinking only, it could be from false contacts (corrosion) in connectors or something.

Anyway, here's the service manual page to locate the relays.

Let us know the outcome.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I did see that page before in a service manual PDF I downloaded from a Russian site. I followed the instructions but still could not locate the relays. I looked again this evening and still cannot find them. Any ideas?

Thanks for your time.

From the service manual, here is a "picture" of where the relays should be.

Have in mind that if your Getz is right hand drive, I believe the components may be located different.

I also noticed something: there are two possible schematic diagrams for the power locks. One if your Getz is equipped with ETACS (Electronic Time and Alarm Control System) and the other one without ETACS.

On the WITH ETACS version, it does have the relays. The other one without ETACS, there are no relays present and everything is controlled from the driver's door switch.

Thanks for your reply.

That makes a lot of sense as I know my car does not have the ETACS module so that explains why I cannot find the relays! So what could it be? The problem with the car at the moment is that when I lock the driver's door, all doors lock but when I try to unlock all the doors from the driver's door, only the driver's door unlock. Any ideas? Car only has a key, no remote fob.

My car is right hand drive btw.

By checking the diagram (attached), all happens inside the driver's door actuator. In there, there are two switches (lock and unlock) which in term, actuate over two built in relays.

I suspect your problem comes from:
a) The unlock switch is not making good contact (dirt, corrosion, etc), or;
b) The unlock relay is not working or getting the signal.
c) Broken cable in wire harness going to/from the driver's door actuator.

I don't know if such relays or switches are replaceable inside the driver's door lock actuator, so a little dis assembly may be required to check this.

Let us know the outcome.

I may have somewhat the same problem with prandall9..
in my case, the door lock/unlock functions intermittently but most often it won't function.

I will pry it open, hope it works.

Your key transmitter may need a new battery and a good cleanup. Its amazing how much grime (and sometimes humidity) can get inside.
