Hi there just wondered if anyone has any ideas,
My Hyundai Getz interior light has stopped working, I have changed the bulb, (new one) did nothing - still not working Checked the fuse in the yellow cage - ok, Even took down the interior light to check the wires are ok. Yep fine! any ideas? My boot light works when I open my boot, my clock works, door open light, etc as well as everything else. Any help would be really grateful as now i am fed up of trying!! Please help Wendy |

Hi Wendy 151. I too have the same problem. I've done exactly the same as you and still no joy. It's very frustrating and even more so when no one replies!! Have you managed to fix it yet, and if so, what did you do?
Simon. |

I will try and help. Your interior light is fed a positive via a fuse directly to one side of the lamp. A negative or ground is fed to the other side of the lamp to operate it from two paths depending where you have the selector switch next to the interior light selected.(continually on or through a door open)
My suggestion would be to drop the interior light assembly down and take some voltage readings .If positive 12 volts is present check for a missing ground through the selector switch or a faulty selector switch. Hope this helps. As you can see I own a 2004 model Getz so I can only speak with regard to this model. I don't know wether things have changed in the later models. I thought if the vehicle was only a couple of years old that this repair would be covered under warranty. However I just had a look through a later model workshop manual for the getz and the grounds for the interior light go through a box called a"Electronic time and alarm control module"or ETACM for short. The earlier series vehicle like mine doesn't have that. If there's no ground at the light assembly maybe there is a problem with this box. |

So I suppose you could try and do a search on the web or pay through the nose and try and buy one Hyundai. |

Hi guys, I've had this same issue so I thought that I'd post my fix. If you remove the interior light assembly, and uncable it. You should notice the 'tracks' or circuits of the unit. One of my tracks had completely oxidised (gone green). I had to clean the track and connector on the switch to remove the oxidisation. Then it worked better. It truly is a 5 minute fix. Hope this helps. Sean |
